Mrs Hughes' English group enjoyed performing the Highwayman. Have a look and let us know what you think.
This week, in English, we have been learning how to write instructions following six clear steps:
You may submit your homework on the blog or on paper. If using the blog please remember our e-safety rules! Homework is due Thursday 21st January 2016. On Friday 8th January we visited the Floral Pavilion to watch a pantomime performance of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We had a lovely morning and really enjoyed watching our very own Freya who did a fantastic job.
For your homework I would like you to review the performance of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' in no more than 100 words. Think carefully about what you want to say and make every word count!! Homework is due by Thursday 14th January. Post your homework below but remember our e-safety rules. This week we have been watching the John Lewis advert, 'The Man on the Man' and discussing what message it is trying to get across to the general public. For your homework I would like you to write a diary entry for a day in the life of 'The Man on the Moon'. Try to include comments about what the old man is thinking and feeling-really draw on the activities we have been completing in class. Be sure to include all the features of a diary entry though. Post your homework below but remember our e-safety rules! Homework is due to be completed by Thursday 10th December.
On Thursday (12/11/15) Mrs Hughes' English Group spent the morning at The Oldershaw Academy completing a variety activities linked to the work we have been doing on the Normans and poetry. The children started the morning by learning more about the Normans, using the Bayeux Tapestry as their stimulus. The children generated a bank of descriptive words that they could then use to write their own poems based on the Battle of Hastings. Have a listen to what they managed to create.
This week we have been using 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' to help us with our diary writing. We focused on Chapter 4 (The Keeper of the Keys) where Harry meets Hagrid for the first time and learns that he is a wizard! In class we focused on the characters of Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon however for homework I would like you to put yourself into Hagrid's shoes. I would like you to write a diary entry that explains Hagrid's thoughts and feelings at this stage of the story. Remember to include the features of the genre:
Homework is due by Thursday 22nd October. When you submit your comment, remember our e-safety rules and only use your first name. This week in English we have started to look at diary entries.
For your homework I would like you to write a diary telling me what you did over the weekend. Remember to include the features of a diary that we have discussed in class this week.
